FAQ

What is BrightDots?

BrightDots.org is a safe, voice-first play world in beta testing. We are building games and guided experiences where kids can play, talk, learn, grow, and belong.

What is BrightDots?

BrightDots creates voice-first games that players control by talking. Players speak to characters, make choices and move through each game without depending on complicated controls or crowded screens.

Who is BrightDots designed for?

BrightDots is designed for families seeking a simpler, more accessible way to play, especially children with low vision or different learning abilities. The games can also be enjoyed by anyone who prefers spoken interaction.

Is BrightDots a therapy or educational treatment?

No. BrightDots creates games and interactive adventures. Although individual games may encourage listening, decision-making, memory or problem-solving, we do not claim that they provide medical, therapeutic or educational treatment.

Do children create their own BrightDots accounts?

No. BrightDots access is managed through adult-controlled accounts. We avoid requesting unnecessary personal information from children.

Existing Game Access

Which BrightDots games are working today?

Clara's Kitchen and Captain Will's Gone Fishin' are currently operational. They demonstrate the voice interaction and game-routing systems that will be used to build Karma Quest.

Can I play the existing games now?

The existing games are available through the BrightDots private beta at BrightDots.org. Access may be limited while we continue testing and improving the experience.

What equipment is required?

Players need a supported phone, tablet or computer with a microphone, a compatible web browser and an internet connection. No dedicated game console or specialized controller is required.

History

How did BrightDots begin?

BrightDots grew from our work with realtime voice software and a simple question: could a complete game be designed around speaking instead of tapping, typing or using a controller?

We answered that question by building Clara's Kitchen and Captain Will's Gone Fishin'. Those games proved that spoken interaction could become the primary way to play rather than an optional feature.

Who created BrightDots?

BrightDots is led by Drew Anderson and a small team with experience in realtime voice systems, web applications, interactive media and story-driven digital experiences.

How much of Karma Quest has already been created?

Karma Quest Chapter 1 has been written and filmed. Its characters, locations and planned video scenes have been produced. Future funding will support the engineering, voice interaction, story routing, accessibility work and testing required to turn those completed scenes into a playable game.

Why now?

The creative production and underlying voice-game technology are far enough along to demonstrate what Karma Quest can become. This beta test helps us to fund the remaining development while involving families and early backers in the testing and refinement process.

Vision

What is the long-term vision for BrightDots?

Our vision is to create a growing collection of adventures that players can enter through conversation. We want voice interaction to provide another genuine way to play, not merely a voice command added to a conventional game.

What comes after Karma Quest Chapter 1?

Our first responsibility is completing and releasing Chapter 1. If the campaign reaches its additional funding milestones, we plan to begin Chapter 2: The Quest of Water and expand the accessibility and voice-guided help features.

Will BrightDots create more games?

That is the goal. Clara's Kitchen and Captain Will's Gone Fishin' established the foundation, while Karma Quest expands it into a larger cinematic adventure. Future development will depend on funding, player response and what we learn from the first release.
